  • COVID-19 Survivors Share How to Recover During Pandemic July 30, 2020
A variety of COVID-19 support groups have emerged to help those who have had, or been affected by, the virus. Teri Brister, PhD, LPC, national director of research and quality assurance at NAMI, said support groups give people encouragement as well as valuable insights not available from healthcare providers. “With the scope and reach that […]
  • As mobile mental health teams work to de-escalate crises, some warn their models still rely on police partnerships July 29, 2020
In the wake of nationwide demonstrations against police brutality, there has been a surge in interest in making sure mental health providers, not law enforcement, are the ones to respond to a psychiatric crisis. Dozens of cities across the country have what are known as mobile crisis units, which deploy trained professionals to respond to […]

We are re-opening August 24th!

Full services including drop in, peer specialists and groups...however we will be adhering to social distancing guidelines and mask ordinance. Temp checks will be taken at the front desk.

Because of this, from now until August 24th we will not be having our Mental Health and Coffee groups. This is so that staff can have time to prepare for our reopening (as staff are the main facilitators). 🙂 All other virtual groups will remain the same until August 24th.

Please call us at 417-864-7119 for more info!

Sometimes the world is a strange and small place. I (Nick) recently got a call from Body Creations Ink Professional Tattoo and Body Piercing that they had a donation for NAMI SWMO from a fundraiser that they had. I made arrangements to pick up the donation and the next day I arrived at the shop to do so. I was greeted by some truly amazing people who went on to tell me why they had done the fundraiser. Their shop was managed by a man named Kevin who unfortunately died by suicide towards the beginning of the pandemic. They went on to tell stories highlighting how amazing Keven and I was blessed to see his light shining through them even though he is now gone. I put the dots together and realized that this was the same Kevin who my husband had worked with for a few short weeks at Walmart. I remember Steven coming home and telling me about this super cool guy named Kevin. NAMI does what we do to spread the message about suicide prevention. We don't want to see anymore bright lights like Kevin dim around us. We have already seen too many! That is what the Neon Night Run is all about! Celebrating the lives of those who we have lost and letting the world know that suicide is preventable! Join us to remember Kevin and so many others. www.neonnight.org ... See MoreSee Less
